This Masters degree is particularly suited to those interested in a career in consultancy, in a specialist technologies field or in higher education.  Career opportunities exist across all sectors, including technology companies, banking and financial institutions, insurance organisations and in universities and research organisations.

Graduates from this programme have found employment in Accenture, Deloitte, Intel, SAP Research Labs and NUI Galway.

You should ideally be a good written communicator with a desire to develop advanced research skills within an applied industry context.  You should have an interest in searching and synthesising literature on a given topic, as well as producing written material that is well structured and logically organised.

The MSc in Business Information Systems is designed to develop students’ research skills and to engage them in a research programme relevant to the area of information systems.  Upon completion of this degree, students should be able to:

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of a particular aspect of information systems through critical analysis of relevant literature and empirical data, applied in a contemporary context.
• Display a critical appreciation of the uses and value of academic research.
• Demonstrate an advanced working knowledge of the practical design and implementation of academic research.
